Inspiration Found (posted 15 July 2009)
I’m proud to be a member of an organization that isn’t really an “official” organization at all, but an on-line community of several thousand who know how to get things done when the inspiration is right. And our inspiration is the magnificent 2006 Kentucky Derby champion, Barbaro. Hundreds of Fans of Barbaro (FOBs) gathered in Louisville during Derby Week this past May for the unveiling and dedication of the Barbaro Memorial Statue outside Gate 1 at Churchill Downs.
I was asked by Alex Brown, who hosts our on-line home (alexbrownracing.com) to serve as official FOB spokesperson for an interview with HRTV, a national horse racing channel. The segment debuted on HRTV’s Inside Information on June 28, and the link to the segment has been posted on YouTube:

They really got the date of the unveiling wrong (it was April 26, not January 29), but, other than that, any segment that helps to showcase the FOBs dedication to anti-slaughter, laminitis research, thoroughbred retirement, equine rescue, and so much more is a wonderful thing to see.
